Jan Ehlers
Jan Ehlers, born in 1956, studied naval architecture in Kiel.
At HDW in Kiel, he worked from 1983 to 1999 as operations manager in steel shipbuilding preassembly and onboard assembly,
and gained experience in the construction of container ships, frigates, passenger ships, ferries, and multipurpose cargo ships.
For non-naval steel construction, he contributed as a welding engineer (SFI) to bridge construction projects and tunnel boring systems.
Plant planning for steel shipbuilding production (“Shipyard 2000”) was also among his responsibilities.
He gained experience in new construction and repair of mega yachts and naval ships at Lürssen as deputy production manager from 1992 to 1996.
As technical managing director, Jan Ehlers worked at Peters Werft in Wewelsfleth, at Nobiskrug, and at Lindenau.
From 2009 until his retirement in 2022, he worked at the classification society Bureau Veritas as newbuild manager for Germany,
where he was responsible, among other things, for LNG tankers, LNG ferries, and LNG RoPax ferries.
For BV’s consulting subsidiary Tecnitas, or BV-Solutions, he managed and conducted risk assessments for LNG installations, risk analyses for newbuild projects, and third-party surveys for offshore wind projects.
